About Training in Vermont
While we’re known nationally for advancing the field, our clinical and teaching excellence, and our highly skilled and committed faculty, we also remain deeply rooted in our local community through a strong network of valued partnerships. We offer close-knit residency and fellowship programs that provide some of the best teaching and mentoring in the country, and consistently produce expertly trained physicians.
A Unique Environment
Accredited by the National Association of Children’s Hospitals and Related Institutions (NACHRI), the Vermont Children’s Hospital serves a largely rural region, which informs the way we practice medicine. While the surrounding area is rural, our location in Burlington adds the flavor of a larger city. This unique blend of city and country provides an academic training experience that can’t be matched at larger, urban children’s hospitals.
Comprehensive Care = Comprehensive Training
At Vermont Children’s Hospital, you’ll receive a well-rounded professional development experience with exposure to the following areas:
- Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit
- Pediatric Intensive Care Unit
- A center including multi-specialty clinics
- A procedural sedation program
- Pediatric telemedicine program
- Primary care clinics
In addition to training in a bustling tertiary care center, you’ll also practice in rural community hospitals and small town pediatric practices. And because our referring doctors and hospitals are an integrated part of our team, you’ll learn the skills needed to be both an excellent consultant and an excellent referring physician.
Learn From the Best
As a university hospital, the faculty at Fletcher Allen/UVM have come from all across the country to be part of this unique enterprise. Our multidisciplinary pediatric outpatient center will allow you to experience coordinating care, and will provide an invaluable exposure to multiple pediatric subspecialties.
